HOW TO TELL APART A FAUX SHEEPSKIN COAT FROM A GENUINE ONE?
Just look carefully at the base where the fur fibers are attached. In genuine sheepskin, the fibers will naturally grow out of the skin base, but in synthetic faux sheepskin, there will always be a man-made mesh fabric that holds the artificial fur.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SHERPA COAT, SHEARLING COAT, AND SHEEPSKIN COAT?
Sherpa coat is any coat with faux sheepskin lining. A shearling coat technically is made of a hide from sheep or lamb that's been shorn just once before the slaughter. However, sheepskin and shearling coats are usually used as synonyms but it is considered that shearling has a softer feel to it.

ARE SHEEPSKIN COATS WARM ENOUGH FOR WINTER?
Oh, yes. Coats made of real sheepskin are probably the best winter outerwear there is and they will easily get you through even the harshest winter.

DO VINTAGE SHEEPSKINS HAVE A SPECIFIC ODOR?
Vintage sheepskin coats usually have a certain smell that one could argue is rather pleasant. After all, it is a smell of the 70's and '80s and those were amazing decades.
